A Writer Goes Into A Starbucks...

...and starts writing (That's his table over to the left in the middle with the MacBook Air). A year later he has his first book completed...

...and finds a publisher and begins to sell and sign books.

The first book was signed to a good friend, David, from the Starbucks where he watched me writing "WASTED." David, like myself, comes to our coffee shop to work (he's an accountant). No TV. No couch or bed to crawl onto to take a nap. No distractions and caffeine to keep us going. Some think a Starbucks is too distracting to write in but I find my focus is so complete that hours go by without me noticing. I have to remind myself to get up and walk around the parking lot to get my blood circulating. Which is actually a good break to assess the work.

Another Starbucks pal, Sam, brings his copy to get signed by me, Sam. This other Sam is making changes in his life and moving on to a new chapter. I must be too, in lieu of writing a blog and working on the promotion which I didn't see coming down the tracks until the train hit me.

Alexis brought in his copy of "WASTED" to discuss it and get signed. Alexis is a terrific human being, a college teacher of architecture, an architect and landlord. He's retiring this semester and is very open, excited and curious about the future.

Alexis had read "WASTED" and parts of it several times, making notes and underlining passages. I was surprised and quite taken to find he enjoyed the novel so much in doing this.

As a writer you can not ask for such a pleasure as to discuss your work with a satisfied reader. Thanks, Alexis. I'll always appreciate your kind interest and the chance to review the words and feelings you found touching, honest and entertaining in "WASTED."

"WASTED" is available at major bookstore online websites. Find out why it has received nothing but five star reviews on Amazon and was a number one seller! Available in hardback, paperback and ebooks. Audio book coming soon!
